Chapter 9
“Serenity, run!” she yells.
I don’t know who it is, but I break out into a run.
I run, gaining speed with each step.
Trees everywhere.
It’s dark, but I can see.
I can smell everything around me.
There’s someone following me.
I can hear him.
But I don’t turn around, just keep running.
Then he’s in front of me, and I stumble into him, jerking myself awake.
I’m sweating, my pajama top is drenched.
As I recall the dream, I remember only the eyes. Those piercing eyes, that made it impossible to move.
His eyes! Ugh!
Why was Storm in my dream?
Was I running to him? Or from him?
Was he the one following me?
Why?
There’s a tap on my window that makes me jump, so I get up and walk over to the door. Opening it, I find Storm standing on my balcony.
“What are you doing here?” I ask, annoyed.
“I’m always close by, remember.?” he taunts. “Are you okay?”
“Yes. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I heard a noise.”
“Sorry. I just had a weird dream.” I explain.
“Okay. Night.” he says, jumping off the balcony, not bothering to use the stairs.
I roll my eyes.
“Night!” I yell into the night, somehow knowing that he heard me.
